National Photo Contest “Bulgaria’s Springs” 2018

Bulgarian Water Association and “I Love Water” association organize National Photo Contest themed “Bulgaria’s Springs” which aims at presenting astonishing pictures of spring water from above and underground sources including mineral springs and geysers in the country (with their respective equipment such as fountains, baths, etc.). The Photo Contest is being realized during the traditional event of BWA and “I Love Water” association – “WATER WEEK” that celebrates the World water day – 22 March and is part of the initiative “International Water Bridge”.
Bulgaria has more than 225 mineral springs. In South Bulgaria there are 148 with mainly natural formations. In the North part of the country there are 77 springs most formed by drilling. The healing effects of Bulgarian mineral water are well-known since ancient times to nowadays and as such many hospitals and public baths have been developed.
Fifty of most impressive photographs in the Contest will become part of Photo Exhibition “Bulgaria’s Springs” that will be presented from 22nd to 27th of March in Sofia. Ten out of these fifty frames are being chosen by online public after e-vote. The rest forty are being selected by expert jury.
Only five from these fifty photographs are going to become absolute winners in the Contest in 2018. They will be declared during special ceremony. The authors of their creations will receive special prizes in the following categories:
- First place
- Second place
- Third place
- Distinction for public institution
- Prize of online public
In the “Distinction for public institution” category the allowed participants are state, municipal, cultural institutions or non-governmental organizations. The category has an additional condition – the photographs have to be accompanied by clarifying text that represents symbolic meaning, positive example or practice with communal interest with sustainable management of water resources from the respective institution/organization.
Part of the Contest can be photographs that are related to the topic “Bulgaria’s Springs” with high quality suitable for print on 50×70 cm. The artworks can be both in full color as well as black and white. Every author can participate with no more than three photographs.
The possibilities for declaration of interest in participation in the Contest are going to be declared in the beginning of 2018. Until then, dear authors, you can prepare your amazing photographs that can secure you part in the Photo Contest. Best of luck!
